One Heart, One Life
"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do" Helen Keller
Wow--my heart is equally full and broken at the same time,I want everyone to see that video--I prayed that somehow the kids at trents school could view it and see how blessed we are, and for our family to work together to serve! Thank you for sharing it.. it was such an encouragement in my faith. Love, Heather
Maria, Wow! When I watched this video, God once again reminded me of Phil.2:3 "Do nothing from rivalry or conceit but, in humility, count others more significant than yourself."
And so you don't merely look out for your own interests, you look out for the interests of others.
Another version from the message is: Philippians 2:3 (The Message) 1-4If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
Philippians 2:3 (New Living Translation) Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.
God is teaching me that so many times my agenda is just that--mine. Not his agenda.
Several years ago, I realized that I was in my own little Christian sheltered world. I asked God to get me out of my comfort zone so that I could be a light for him in a dark world. What he has made me realize over the years was that I was the one putting that shield around myself. Lately, He has been opening my eyes to those in need around me. They were around me all along, I was just to busy and caught up in my own agenda and worldly and fleshly desires to notice. Trying to keep up with everybody else.
Some other verses that I have studied along with this verse is:
Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;
Ephesians 5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
Colossians 3:12 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) Therefore, God's chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
